James Patterson

While reading the aforementioned Thomas Harris, I decided to pick up another, similar writer who I am so far enjoying very much: James Patterson.  Right now I am reading his The 19th Christmas, which very skillfully walks a fine line between thriller and comedy.  A great, great mystery novel in the fashion of those of us library-types who like mystery novels!  I could easily read every word the man has written, and I just might.  Patterson wrote the novel which was the basis for the (I thought) terrific film Along Came a Spider, which I saw but forgot to review.  Great stuff!  My retirement is shaping up nicely!
